Time to move on after unforgettable days in Sucre.

Hey lads, believe it or not, we left Sucre, a place where we were supposed to stay for a couple of days but ended up staying 2 weeks and feeling almost locals! Too many things happened there, and all good. First of all, the work at the orphanage and all the paintings, and then the amazing group of people we met there. We have been extremely lucky guys, we met so many people with whom a strong connection and friendship started. We shared many things together, from the paintings to the dinners and nights out.
The place where we stayed, the Hostel Pachamama was one of the keys for all of this to happen, a fantastic hostel with a lovely family who made us feel like if we were at home. The second key was Lurdes, the Catalan woman, the mastermind of all the works at the orphanage, and someone full of energy who joined all of us.
The work at the orphanage was very rewarding and fulfilling, just to see the kids smiling and running around the playground looking at the paintings was more than worth it. In a way it is sad to think that more than likely they will expend all their adolescence there, without a family, but realistically they are better looked after than many street kids, and at least will have some education and always their meals. Nonetheless when they call you daddy or mummy it is really heart-breaking. It has been our first experience in volunteering work, and without any doubt, it is something we would like to repeat in the future.
Besides the work at the orphanage we have been quite busy with birthdays parties and nights out. Yes lads, we have had loads of rum & cokes and caipirnhas in our hands, and felt again some hangovers. Yeah, we deserved it after 8 months of soberness, well except Sydney, is not it Joan?
It was really hard to leave Sucre yesterday, very emotional and touching, but it was time to move on. Was not easy to leave behind these nice bunch of people, but we will bump into each other in the next days somewhere in South America, may be on a week beach holiday...
After a 15 hours bus ride with break down and change of bus included, we got to La Paz this morning. Tomorrow we will take a challenge and ride down the famous most dangerous road of the world. A vertical drop of 3,600m starting at 4,700 and finishing at the tropical village of Coroico. Although the name is quite scary is not that dangerous, as long as the bike breaks on time...
Next stop will be Rurrenabaque, at the Amazon basin where we hope to spot some wildlife and do some jungle walks.
All the best!
