Unforgettable days & adventures...

Hi lads! We are back to a city, Potosi, after an amazing week touring around South-western Bolivia, perhaps one of the most tourist areas but at the same time one of the most remote and isolated.
From Uyuni we set off on a 3 days tour that took us through one of the most awesome landscapes that we have ever seen. Luckily we shared it with a nice bunch of people, Lance & Shelly from South Africa and Honika & Yolanda from Holland, all of us squeezed in a Land Rover with our driver and cook!
First sight and probably the most impressive and shocking was the eerie Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat. Hey guys the feeling was like being in another planet, with just two colors, blue and white! The landscape became even more surreal and magic when we came across a hilly island in the middle of the desert. Isla Incahuasi is just covered in cactus and surrounded by white octagonal salt tiles. The perfect place to go mad and take stupid-creative photos as you will see below…
As the day could not finish in a different way, we slept in a salt hotel, a cool experience, tables, seats, beds…all sculpted from salt blocks! A perfect ending for a very salty day!
On the second day we left behind the Salar and climbed up to the high plateau discovering a totally different scenario; majestic volcanic peaks, rocky deserts and plenty lagoons boasting different colors and abundant wildlife. We slept nearby a red lagoon in basic place at 4,300m. The wind was icy and the weather bitterly cold brrr…..Plenty blankets and clothes made the job…We survived!
On the last day the wake up call was painful! At 5a.m we were on the road heading to the geysers to see them at their peak moment just before sunrise. Afterwards we were rewarded with one of the best experiences of the tour, definitely a highlight! We had breakfast next to a hot-spring where we jumped straight away! Ufff lads, we never found the moment to get out…Plus, it was all for us and the views where to die for!
Back to the road we drove higher to check out the Green Lagoon, no comments here. Just see the pictures…Then the Red Lagoon; seriously, it’s hard to come up to the reason of the pure existence of this natural phenomenon! It is not easy to assimilate the amount of incredible natural things we saw in 3 days.
On the way back to Uyuni we had a couple of minor break downs but we made it on time to spoil ourselves with a nice dinner! And time to bid farewell to the team!
Next stop was Tupiza, 8 hours to do 200Km through treacherous unpaved and dusty roads. Here the landscape was a whole different story; spectacular countryside with eroded rocks, canyons, fin formations and ravines with cactus. Was like being in a western movie, especially when we did some horse riding exploring the surroundings! Although we are still paying for it with a very sore ass and back! We are tempted to go and buy a rubber ring to make our days smoother…
Uff…That was long eh!!!!! All the best and enjoy!
