Stuck up the mountains!

Hi lads! We left the cities behind and moved on up north and into the mountains. We are in the Elqui Valley, 300 km. north of Santiago and a small paradise on earth, with plenty grape vines on the bottom and charred brown hills rising on either side and loads of small villages scattered nearby the river. We based ourselves in Pisco Elqui, a charming peaceful village that seems to suck you in, never finding the day to leave it. The landscape is purely breathtaking as the town is perched on the foothills of the Andes with massive imposing mountains, many of them over 4000m.high.
Pisco Elqui has some kind of magnetism, is so idyllic, with less than 500 inhabitants, it boasts lovely colourful adobe houses, dusty streets and colonial arquitecture. The weather is perfect combining warm days with cold nights, always sunny with clear deep blue skies! Thanks to the transparency of its skies, this area has the largest concentration of astronomical observatories in the world, so we took advantage of this and visited one of them, where we got a chance to observe the moon and some stars.
Our plan was to stay around for two days but upon arrival we met Gabriela, a local who has a beautiful house up the hills and offered us to stay with her and her son. That was four days ago, since then we have been sharing so much with them like bonfires on her garden, excursions up the mountains, meals, loads of chats and table games. Her house is captivating, rustic humble old style, a huge garden with oranges, peaches and many fruit trees, a traditional mud oven and with a small river crossing trough the garden. We really needed to find something like this, as our energy and enthusiasm was running a bit low, but the whole situation has changed! We have been doing some hikes, walks around town and visited remote villages like Cochiguaz, really high on the Andes founded on the 60’s by a small community with the belief that was on the same parallel than the Tibet but just opposed to it. Definitely a special place!
Having said all that, you can imagine that we do not have any date in mind to leave this! Could be in 3 days or a week...Who knows!
