Chinese days

Hi there, we are in Guilin, a city in South East China, we got here two days ago after the most bizarre train trip. The national holidays started 3 days ago, it's called the Spring Festival (new year celebrations on the 18th Feb), so loads of Chinese people are travelling back home and trains or buses are amazingly crowded, we had to buy our tickets 24 hours in advance and the day after we waited for 7 hours to catch the train in a huge square with at least 10,000 people around!!!. It was a shocking experience, the police was everywhere and took care of lining up the people in different queues. Plus: we were the only two westerners around, so you can imagine, that we entertained them quite well... they stared at us, and had good laughs!!.
The weather here isn t really good, it's misty and foggy, so we can t fully enjoy the landscape, which is supposed to be incredible: it's called the stone forest, loads of small limestone mountains along the river. At least we hook up with two nice local guys who are guiding us through the city, and allowing us to get to know a bit further Chinese people.
The food, ah the food... we are experiencing new things here, and becoming an experts with the chopsticks. So far we are enjoying many different dishes, but not brave enough to try the famous local snake soup or a kind of fat rat....
The pictures will have to wait for a while as we lost the camera in Hong Kong with all of them, so we bought a new one there and soon will upload some (as soon as we find a computer set up with English!!)
All the best to all of you and enjoy!!!
